Ms. Sylvia Elaine Cobb Dyer, 63, of Hartwell, passed away Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital, Athens, GA.

Born on October 12, 1954 in Royston GA, she was the daughter of the late Spurgeon Cobb and Drucie Alma Homes Cobb. Ms. Dyer was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters: Marcia Selman (Kevin) of Anderson, SC, Cheryl Strange (Jimmy) of Hartwell; one son: Brian Dyer (Cindy) of Hartwell; two brothers: Howard Cobb (Lula), Wayne Cobb (Susan) ; one sister: Janet Eaves (Bruce) all of Hartwell; and five grandchildren: Alyssa Strange, Camden Holmes, Maddie Selman, Megan Selman, and Katie Blake Selman also survive. Ms. Dyer was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers: Larry Cobb, James Cobb, Jessie Cobb; and one sister: Linda Cobb.

A memorial service celebrating Sylvia's life will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Terry Meeks and Mr. Leslie Boles officiating.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.The family will be at the home of Bruce and Janet Eaves, 2687 Beacon Light Road, Hartwell, GA 30643.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to defray medical and funeral expenses.
