Mr. T J Carnes, 81, of McGee St, Belton SC, died Saturday, November 29 at Rainey Hospice House, Anderson SC.

Born on April 8, 1927 in Hart County GA, He was the son of the Levis Gartrell Carnes and Laura Grant Carnes.He was retired from Peerless Mills in Belton, where he was a loom fixer and supply room clerk.He was a member of the Dorchester Baptist Church and a WW II US Army veteran, serving in the European Theater.

Mr. Carnes is survived by his former wife: Louise Allen Roper of Williamston SC; one daughter: Debra Carnes Malone of Clinton SC and one son: Terry Joe Carnes of Belton SC; one sister: Jackie C. White of Hartwell; three brothers: Vincent Carnes of Hull, Wilton Carnes of Washington GA and Johnny Carnes of Hartwell; three granddaughters: Toni McClain Gilmer, Stephanie C. Stephens and Tara Carnes; four great-grandchildren: Justin Wright, Preston Gilmer, Micheal Gilmer and Savannah Walters also survive.Mr. Carnes was preceded in death by his parents, one son: Micheal Steven Carnes; three brothers and five sisters.

Funeral services will be Monday, December 1 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home ~ Hartwell Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday night.The family is at their respective homes.Flowers optional, memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rodgers Rd., Anderson SC 29621
