Mr. James Terry Freeman, 71, of Hartwell, passed away Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at St. Mary's Sacred Heart Hospital in Lavonia.
Born on February 2, 1952 in Seneca, SC, he was the son of the late William Carl Freeman and Faith Jewell Hunter Freeman. Terry was a retired truck driver and formerly drove for B & W Gas, Hartwell Company, Adams Motor Express, and Koch Foods, in which he totaled over 3 million miles, and was known on the CB Radio as "Buttercup." Terry was also of the Baptist faith, and he loved to spend time with his family.
Survivors include his wife: Susan Standridge Freeman of Hartwell; two daughters: Faith Freeman and Amy Freeman Mize, both of Hartwell; two sisters: Mae Beebe of Hartwell and Lena McCollum of Starr SC; and two grandchildren: Abigail and Anna Mize. Terry was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers: Henry Freeman, Harold Freeman, Dan Freeman, Bill Freeman, Reese Freeman and two sisters: Amy Cantrell and Barbara Freeman.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home. Other times the family will be at the home.
Funeral services for Mr. Terry Freeman will be held Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home with Revs. Jeremy Farmer and Stacy Lynch officiating. Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
In lieu of flower, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
The Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell is in charge of all arrangements.
