Mr. Terry Wicker, age 63, of 110 Wicker Road, Hartwell, GA 30643, died Friday, June 10, 2011 at his home.
Born June 28, 1947, in Hart County, he was the son of the late James & Ethel "Faye" (Isom) Wicker. He was a Vietnam War veteran of the US Army. He was retired from Franklin County High School, where he taught Power Transportation for 27 years. He was a certified ASCE Master Mechanic for 25 years. He was Pepsi Franklin County Teacher of the Year 2003-2004 and Coca Cola Franklin County Teacher of the Year 2004-2005. Mr. Wicker was current president of the Hart County Camp of Gideon's International. He was a member of Reed Creek Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday School Teacher and former Chairman of the Deacons.
He is survived by his wife: Jane Carruth Wicker; daughters and sons-in-law: Marcy and Thomas Hill of Hartwell and Jody and David Slice of Starr, SC; sister: Sara Fowler of Hartwell; brothers: James Harold Wicker, Jerry Wicker, and Ronnie Wicker all of Hartwell; and grandchildren: Amber Hill, Brandon Hill, Tyler Hill, Adam Slice, Emily Slice, and Luke Slice.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 12, 2011 at Reed Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Sam Delaney and Rev. Mitch Slaton officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 2:30 p.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. At other hours, the family will be at the home of Marcy and Tom Hill, 712 Milltown Road, Hartwell, GA 30643.
