Mr. Thaddeus Brown Holbrook, 75, of Hartwell, Georgia died Sunday, May 4, 2014 at Ty Cobb Regional Medical Center.
Born on September 26, 1938 in Hartwell, he was the son of the late James W. Holbrook and Frances Brown Holbrook.He attended North Georgia and graduated from the University Of Georgia School Of Business. He was a member of Delta Sigma Pi.He was employed by Brunswick Sports in Covington, Georgia; Milliken Company in Lavonia; Georgia; M. Lowenstein of Anderson, S.C.He loved farming and was a beef cattle farmer in the Shoal Creek area in Hart County.He owned and operated John Deere Dealerships in Hartwell and Anderson.
He was of the Baptist faith and served as Sunday School teacher, deacon, trustee, Training Union Director, and member of the choir at Cross Roads Baptist Church.He was a member and past president of Hartwell Kiwanis Club.He was a former board member of the Hart County Chamber of Commerce and the Hart County Hospital Authority.
Survivors include one daughter, Suzanne and her husband Russ Mize of Hartwell; one son, Jamie Holbrook of Asheville, N.C. His grandchildren are Chantz Mize and Rachel Mize; sisters, Jan Williams and her husband John of Birmingham, Alabama; and Miriam Tanner and her husband John Tanner Jr. of Canton, Georgia.He has five surviving nephews and several great nieces and nephews; and former wife, Sandra Holbrook Bruce.
Funeral service will be held onThursday May 8, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Connie M. Bowers officiating.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park with Rev. John Silver officiating.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral where the family will receive friends Wednesday night, May 7, 2014 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The family is at the home of Suzanne and Russ Mize, 274 Rockdale Rd., Canon, GA.Flowers are optional and memorials may be made to the Cross Roads Baptist Church, 3636 Lavonia Hwy., Hartwell Georgia 30643. He was proud that his grandparents were charter members of this church.
