Obituary

Tommie Holden, 81, died in his home in Hartwell, GA on Saturday, March 7, 2015.Tommie was born in South Carolina to Colonel and Mary Holden. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Inez Holden; his only daughter Gail and her husband Dan Mills of Washington state; his granddaughter Shannon and her husband Dean Tyler of Virginia; grandson Kyle Nealy of Alaska and 5 great grandchildren: Bailey and Holden Tyler; Bobby, Mykinzie, and Kylie Nealy. He is also survived by his sister Shirley Browning of South Carolina.

Tommie served in the Air Force as a Communication's Specialist for 20 years. He saw action in Vietnam during the Tet Offensive and traveled the world during his time in the military, including the Bahamas, Okinawa and in 1962 he was transferred to Alaska.

Tommie was an avid hunter and loved to fish the lakes and streams of the 49th state. Tommie retired as a Tech Sergeant from the Air Force and later found work with Anchorage Telephone Utility.He eventually retired from ATU and in 1987 he and Inez moved to Hartwell.

Tommie had a wonderful sense of humor. He liked to tell stories about fishing on Lake Hartwell with Brother, Larry and Wes Bailey. He was also a computer whiz and enjoyed helping friends and relatives with all of their electronics needs.

Tommie generously donated to the Alzheimer's Association and Lake Point Retirement Home.

His family honored Tommie in a private Celebration of Life Sunday, March 15th, 2015 at Mount Olivet Baptist Church.
