Thomas Clarence “Tommy” Beasley, age 88, of Lavonia, passed away at his home on Friday, July 10, 2026. Born on April 20, 1938, in the Shoal Creek community, Tommy was the son of the late Phillip Looney Beasley and Mary Holbrook Beasley.
After graduating from Lavonia High School in 1956, Tommy went on to be an ROTC graduate from Georgia Military College and earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Georgia. After college, Tommy served his country with honor as a member of the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He had an entrepreneur spirit; having owned and operated Lavonia Auto Parts and Beasley Tax and Financial Services, LLC.
Tommy was a member of the Lavonia United Methodist Church, where he previously served as the treasurer, a member of the Board of Trustees, a Sunday School teacher, and a Men's Club member. He was also active in the community with memberships with the Jaycees, the Boy Scouts of America, and the National Association of Tax Preparers.
Beyond his professional and community achievements, Tommy was an avid golfer, antique car enthusiast, UGA sports fanatic, and number cruncher. He took great joy in watching his grandchildren play sports, a testament to his love for family.
He is survived by his wife, Jan Smith Beasley; son & daughter-in-law, Rusty & Wendi Beasley; his grandchildren, Ava-Cate Beasley, Halli-Gray Beasley, Lleyton Beasley, Parker Dorsey, and Clay Dorsey; his brother & sister-in-law, Richard "Dicky" & Shirley Beasley; nieces and nephews, Marty White, Laurie Bailey (Dan), Joey White (Wanda), Johnny White, Brooks Beasley (Allison), and Sheri Beasley Fields (Matt); and numerous other family members. In addition to his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by his sister, Marylina Beasley White.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 13, 2026 at the Lavonia United Methodist Church with Rev. Ben Wilcox and Rev. Dr. Hugh Hendrickson officiating. Burial will follow, with military honors, at Franklin Memorial Gardens – North. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Lavonia United Methodist Church.
