Mr. Thomas Eugene "Tommy" Carey, 55, of Bethany Lane, Canon, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at his home.

Born on January 1, 1961 in Royston GA, he was the son of Helen Starrett Carey and the late Joe Garner Carey.Mr. Carey was retired from the City of Elberton Recycling and a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church.

Survivors include his mother: Helen Starrett Carey; his wife: Donna Bray Carey; two sons: Josh Worley and his wife Megan of Comer and Dusty Carey of Athens; three brothers: Dennis Carey of Hartwell, Randy Carey and Ricky Joe Carey and his wife Tammy all of Anderson; two sisters: Barbara Brown and her husband Arthur of Anderson and Rhonda Burton and her husband Terry of Hartwell; five grandchildren: Maggie Worley, Abigail Worley, Amelia Worley, Emma Worley and Ava Carey also survive.Mr. Carey was preceded in death by his father and two brothers: Steve Carey and Tony Carey.

Memorial services will be Sunday, April 17, 2016 at 3:00 pm at the Tabernacle Baptist Church with Rev. Randall Starrett and Rev. Dale Carson officiating.Mr. Carey will be cremated after the service.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Saturday evening.The family is at the home.
