Mr. Thomas "Tommy" Eugene Evans, 59, of 100 Wayne Circle, Hartwell, GA, died Monday, March 17, 2008 at his home.

Born May 13, 1948 in Clarkesville, GA, he was the son of the late John Wood Fine Grady Evans and Sally Mae Pruitt Evans.He was retired from BASF Corporation and he attended Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.

He is survived by:Wife, Ruth Ann King Evans of the home; Sons, Matthew Evans and his wife Sherri of Lavonia, GA and Dale Smith and his wife Tonya of Dewy Rose, GA; Daughter, Gale Cheek and her husband Chad of Canon, GA; Brothers, John Evans of Otto, NC, Alfred Evans of Hartwell, GA, Hoyt Evans of Callahan, FL, Jimmy Evans of Mt. Airy, GA, and Herman Evans of Simpsonville, SC; Sisters, Ann Stewart of Greenwood, SC, Hazel Holbrook of Mt. Airy, GA, Carolyn Hembree of Greenwood, SC and Peggy Evans of Pendergrass, GA; Seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive.He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Floyd Evans and a sister Allene Evans.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.Rev. Joe Black and Rev. Ken Buffington will officiate. Cremation will follow the service.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home ~ Hartwell Chapel where the family will receive friends Thursday 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. prior the service.The family is at the home.
