Tommy White

Thomas Edwin “Tommy” White, age 82, of Lavonia, passed away Sunday, September 20, 2026, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Athens.

Born September 5, 1944, in Royston, Georgia, he was the son of the late Edrew Columbus White and Annie Lee Martin White. Tommy was a 1963 graduate of Lavonia High School and was the longtime owner and operator of White’s Service Station in Lavonia. He was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.

Tommy had a natural love for working with his hands, especially when it came to automotive mechanics. He also enjoyed gardening and spending time with his friends. More than anything, Tommy was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a caring grandfather and great-grandfather who treasured his family.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Burdette White; sons, Chris White (Julia), and Brian White (Donna Bradberry); grandchildren, Cameron White and Taylor White; and great-grandchildren, Aurora, Luna, Astrid, Winnie, and Malcolm.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Ted Martin White, Sr., Doug White, and Howard White.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 23, 2026, in the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia with Rev. Bruce McGee and Dr. Charles Holland officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
