Obituary

Mr. Joe Travis Vickery, 64, of Summerville, SC, formerly of Hartwell, died Monday, August 3, 2015 in Summerville, SC.

Born on November 23, 1950 in Royston, GA, he was the son of the late Joe Thomas Vickery and Imogene Ginn Vickery.Mr. Vickery was a US Army veteran and of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his son: Joe Vickery, Jr and his wife Amanda of Williamston, SC; daughter: Amy Black McDowell and her husband Brandon of Hartwell: two brothers: Terry Vickery of Charleston, SC and Tommy Vickery of Central, SC; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews also survive. Mr. Vickery was preceded in death by his parents and one brother: Jackie Vickery.

Memorial services will be Thursday, August 6, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Johnny Stowe officiating.

The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday prior to the service. The family is at their respective homes. Flowers are optional, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675.
