Obituary
Mr. Troy Edward McGarity, 42, of 74 Sanders Pt, Hartwell GA, died Saturday, August 29 at Athens Regional Medical Center, Athens.
Born on November 6, 1966 in Franklin Co. GA, he was the son of Vickie Carey York.He was a former carpenter, former member of the Georgia Army National Guard and of the Baptist Faith.
Survivors include his mother, Vickie Carey York of the home; a sister, Charlene Childs of Martin; a brother, Curtis Eric McGarity of Royston and several nieces and nephews also survive.Mr. McGarity was preceded in death by a brother, Harold David McGarity Jr. and a sister Sherri Denise Chappell.
A memorial service will Tuesday, September 1 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Gettis Allen officiating.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday night at the home of his sister, Charlene & Jeremy Childs, 3252 Brown Rd, Martin GA and one hour prior to the memorial service at the funeral home.
