Mrs. Lora Velma "Granny" (Whiting) Bagwell, age 101, of Martin, died Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at her home.
Born May 5, 1912, in Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Mamie Heaster (Thomas) Whiting. She retired from Carwood Manufacturing as a seamstress. Mrs. Bagwell was a member of Clarks Creek Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: William Lonnie Bagwell; daughter: Lonnie Sue Bagwell; daughter-in-law: Christine Bagwell; great-granddaughter: Erin Collins; and siblings: Clarence Whiting, Clyde Whiting, Eva Wilson, and Ruth Tiller.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law: Lorene & Sandy Maupin and Martha & Hugh Ed Phillips; sons: James Bagwell and Bruce Bagwell; grandchildren: Debbie Holt, Patty Collins, Pam Baxter, Mark Bagwell, Melinda Brown, Dianne Bentley, Keith Whitfield, Ken Whitfield, Kevin Whitfield, and Daphne Farmer; fifteen great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 5, 2013 at Clarks Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Brett Ginn, Rev. Ken Whitfield, and Rev. Alan Cole officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church Friday from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour.
