Miss Velma Loreen Mitchell, age 84, of McGee Road, Canon, died Friday, June 27 at Cobb Memorial Hospital.
Born March 10, 1924, in Stephens County, she was the daughter of the late Jake and Minnie Jordan Mitchell. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters: Evanell "Nellie" Mitchell, Reba Frederick, and Mavis Mitchell; and brothers: L.T. Mitchell, T.R. Mitchell, and James Mitchell.
She is survived by sister: Elsie Boyd and brother: Junior Mitchell, both of Eastanollee.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, June 29, 2008 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with the Rev. J. W. Stowe officiating. Interment will follow in the Lavonia City Cemetery.
