Mr. Vernon Lee Grady, 62, of Airline-Goldmine Road, Bowersville, passed away Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at his home.

Born on July 6, 1954 in Independence, IA, he is the son of Mary Ellen Kemp Spears and the late Harold Raye Grady.Mr. Grady was a retired truck driver from Auto Zone and of the Baptist Faith. He also enjoyed riding motorcycle and drag racing.

Survivors include his mother: Mary Ellen Kemp Spears of Macon; his companion: Rosie Lee Teague of Bowersville; one son: Brett Dean Grady; one daughter: Amber Lee Grady; one step-daughter: Dawn Carter; two sisters: Marilyn Redd, Susan Towers; four grandchildren: Sarah, Matthew, Charlee Carter and Mikey Bennett. Mr. Grady was preceded in death by his father: Harold Raye Grady and one step-son: Michael Whitlock.

Funeral services will be Friday, February 3, 2017, at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Benson Bottoms officiating.Burial will be in the Tabernacle Baptist Church Cemetery.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. Friday prior to the service.The family is at the home.
