Mr. Vincent Zippilli, 78, of 244 Methodist Park Lane, Hartwell, passed away peacefully, Friday, July 12, 2013 at his home.
Born on July 19, 1934 in Wayne, PA, he was the son of the late Domenico Zippilli and Rosa Di Ascentiis Zippilli.Vince was the owner/operator of The Peddler Steak House in Athens from 1972-1993, was a Chef for the Harry M. Stephen Company for over 15 years and was of the Catholic Faith.He was a member of the Athens Rotary Club and was on the Board of Directors for Southern Heritage Bank and the Athens Chamber of Commerce, and was also very active with the Athens Downtown Business Association.
Survivors include his wife, Harriette Hargis of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Val and David Hyde of Winder; a grandchild, Landon Hyde; and other living sibilings: Lucy Mac Pherson, Carmen Zippilli, Gabriel Zippilli, and Anna Jardine.Mr. Zippilli was preceded in death by his parents; and other siblings: Assunta Agostini, Angeline Tomasetto, Joseph Zippilli, Dominic Zippilli, John Zippilli, Natalie Fanelle, and Mary Zippilli.
Memorial services will be Sunday, July 14, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Dr. Jon Appleton, Pastor Emeritus of First Baptist Church in Athens, Pastor John Silver of Sardis Baptist Church, and Rev. Benson Bottoms, Chaplain of Gentiva Hospice officiating.
