Mr. Vinson Brown, 92, of Hartwell, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family and friends.

Born on July 3, 1934, in Iva, SC, he was the son of the late Frank Brown and Lucy Mauldin Brown. Mr. Brown graduated from Iva High School and was an electrician for Duke Power Company until he retired at the age of 57. Vinson joined the US Air Force in 1959 and retired from the Air Force Reserves in 1994. He was of the Baptist faith, a Mason, and a member of the American Legion Post 109. Vinson married his wife Patsy on August 11, 1962, at their home on Lake Hartwell. In 1964, they had their first daughter Sherry. In 1967, their second daughter Sandra was born. He also enjoyed dancing with his wife, and they were both known for their smooth dance steps. He loved spending time on the lake with family & friends, meeting friends at Jim’s Grill, participating at the YMCA, and playing pickle ball. Vinson also enjoyed helping his neighbors with their boat docks, cutting grass, and being their handyman.

Survivors include his two daughters: Sherry Brown Ankerich and Sandra Brown Kesler (David), all of Hartwell; a loving grandfather to two grandchildren: Caitlin Ledford (Kyle) of Maysville, GA, and Conner Ankerich (Cierra) of Athens; and one great-grandson: Luke Ledford.

Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents: five brothers: twin brother Vernon, Aubrey, Donnie, JC, and Hubert Brown; and four sisters: Dorothy Holmes, Katherine Walters, Lois Hughes, and Annie Laura Thornton.

The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 1:30 to 3:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. At other times, the family will be at the home.

Funeral services for Mr. Vinson Brown will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Dr. Eugene Ashby and Mr. Thomas Jordon officiating. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Air Force Honor Guard.  Burial will be held at the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.

Flowers are optional, and memorials may be made to the American Legion Post 109, P.O. Box 513, Hartwell, GA 30643.
