Mrs. Opal Virginia Lewis Byrum, 72, of 296 Wayne Circle Hartwell, died Saturday, December 1, 2012 at her home.

Born on March 18, 1940 in Hartwell GA, she was the daughter of the late LQ Lewis and Lucy Mae Davis Lewis.She retired from Tenneco Automotive as a machine operator with 35 years of service and was a member of Bethany Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Jackie Byrum of the home; a daughter, Lynn B. Edwards and her husband Ken of Watkinsville; two grandchildren, Lauren E. Hammond and Kristen E. Eason; two sisters, Linda Bell of Hartwell and Brenda Lewis of Bowersville. Mrs. Byrum was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Charles Fred Lewis, and Ralph Edward Lewis.

Funeral services will be Monday, December 3, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Johnny Ashworth, and Mr. Fred Greenway officiating.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.

The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday night.The family is at the home.
