Mrs. Virginia Mae Hedden Segars, 89 of Old 29 Hwy, Hartwell, formerly of Hiawassee, died Friday, May 21 2010 at Hartwell Health Care Center.
Born on November 12, 1920 in Hiawassee GA, she was the daughter of the late Ed Hedden and Ellen Belle Stroud Hedden.She was a homemaker, member of the Holly Springs Baptist Church and attended the Macedonia Baptist Church when she lived in Hiawassee.
Survivors include her daughter, Barbara S. Skelton of Hartwell, son, Thomas Edward Segars Sr of San Antonio TX; two brothers, Edward Hedden and Douglas Hedden both of Hiawassee; three sisters, Kate Waldroup of Hiawassee, Patricia Plott of Blairsville and Ellen Sue Wilson of Rogersville TN; four grandchildren, Kristi Evans, Gary Segars, Thomas Segars Jr and Michelle Segars; five great-grandchildren, Shelby Evans, Colton Evans, Savannah Segars, Jonathan Segars and Garrett Segars also survives.She was preceded in death by her husband, L.A. Segars; a grandson, Michael Skelton; two brothers, Paul Hedden and Ketron Hedden and four sisters, Mary Shook, Joyce Mills, Peggy McClure and Dottie Hedden.
Funeral services will be Monday, May 24 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. John Silver officiating.Burial will be in the Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, Bowman.
