Mr. Walter Alvin "Bud" Butler, age 82, of Lavonia, died Monday, August 24, 2015 at his home.
Born October 14, 1932, in Coffee County, GA, he was the son of the late: Alvin and Gladys Butler. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and a member of Fairview Baptist Church. Mr. Butler retired from General Motors after 34 years of service and Auto Zone after 17 years of service.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Betty Jo (McDaniel) Butler; son: David Butler; brother: Bo Butler; and sisters: Rosa Andrews and Geneva Poss.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law: Clay and Melissa Butler; son: Jerald Rogers; daughter and son-in-law: Lisa and Walter Todd; daughters: Cindy LaRieu and Susie Butler; sisters: Helen Brady and Louise Hood; grandchildren: Clay Butler, Jr., Caleb Butler, Shelby Patterson, Matthew Todd, Jessica Todd, Dustin Todd, J. D. Rogers, Justin Rogers, Stephenie Rogers, Amanda Rogers, and Renee Rogers; and great-grandchildren: Jackson and Za'den Todd and Madison Rogers.
The funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 27, 2015 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Bruce Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. At other hours the family will be at the home.
