Obituary

Mr. Walter Lewis "Chip" Haines, 47, of Reed Creek Hwy, Hartwell, died Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Rainey Hospice House, Anderson.

Born on June 26, 1967 in Wheeling WV, he was the son of Larry E. Haines and Jacqueline Reineke Haines.Mr. Haines was a self-employed Jeweler and a U.S. Marine veteran.During his tour of duty, he reached the rank of Sergeant and received the National Defense Service Medal, Southeast Asia Service Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation as well as several other ribbons and badges for his service.He also served in Operation Desert Storm.

Survivors include his parents: Larry and Jacqueline Haines of Hartwell; his wife: Christine "Cricket" Haines of Hartwell; two daughters: Quinn Haines and Devin Haines both of Hartwell; a brother: Mike Haines & Maureen of South Mills NC and a sister: Tamara Friedline & John of Hartwell.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Faith Lutheran Church with Rev. Dr. Matthew Cawthorn officiating.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 3343 Peachtree Road, NE #M20, Atlanta, GA 30326
