Mr. Walter Hubert Isbell, age 84, of Hartwell Highway, Lavonia, died Sunday, July 26, 2009 at his home.
Born July 6, 1925, in Hart County, he was the son of the late Norris & Mattie (Malone) Isbell. He was a retired route salesman with EH Prather Wholesale. He also worked for many years at the Owl's Nest. Mr. Isbell was a member of Shoal Creek Baptist Church, where he formerly served as deacon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers: Billy Isbell, Doyle Isbell, Wyatt Isbell, Wallace Isbell, & Robert Isbell; and sisters: Katherine Wofford, Louise Ethridge, Ellen Teat, & Lois McGee.
He is survived by his wife: Geraldine (Buffington) Isbell; daughters and sons-in-law: Peggy & Travis Moon and Debbie & Pete Gallo; brother: Hugh Isbell; sister: Margaret Reed; grandchildren: Chris Moon and Charity Henry; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Smith & Rev. David Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 4:00 p.m.
