Ted 'Wayne' Owens, 73, of Lavonia, GA, passed away peacefully, Saturday, April 4, 2015 at his daughter's home in Anderson, SC.He was the widower of Doris Roling Owens.He was the son of the late Clifford and Dora Faye Owens. A lifelong resident of Franklin County, Mr. Owens was a member of Shoal Creek Baptist Church. He served his country in the US Army, and retired from Milliken.
Mr. Owens is survived by son, Mark Owens of Lavonia, and daughter, Traci Owens Shingleton of Anderson, SC.5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.He is also survived by brother Mayor Ralph Owens and sister Barbara Owens Burdette of Lavonia.He was preceded in death by brothers Pete Owens and Phil Owens.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Franklin Memorial Gardens – North. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Monday, April 6, 2015. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Rd. Anderson, SC29621.
