Mr. Otis Wayne Skelton, 78, of Hartwell, passed away Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.
Born on April 3, 1943 in Royston, GA, he was the son of the late Otis Farris Skelton and Pauline Gaines Skelton.Mr. Skelton was co-owner of K & W Plumbing & Electrical. He was a member of the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, where he was a former deacon, member of the kitchen crew, and a former member of the choir. He also played church softball and volunteered his time for VBS, the Valentines Banquet and Halloween Festival.He also played on several Industrial league softball teams and loved the Atlanta Braves.
Survivors include two daughters: Paula Skelton of Bowman, Tracy Willett (Rev. Gary) of Martinsburg West VA; one son: Kevin Skelton (Annie) of Royston; eight grandchildren: Jonathan Bowers, Candice Bowers, Sarah Ruby (James), Kyle Bowers, Abigail McFarland (Ryan), Timothy Willett, Samuel Willett (Christina), Henley Skelton; nine great grandchildren: Hannah McFarland, Kalijah Kessler, Micah Ruby, Adaline McFarland, Killian Bowers, Seth McFarland, Kratos Bowers, Elias McFarland, and Noah Ruby; a brother: Randy Skelton (Dell) of Hartwell and a sister: Linda S. Childs of Conyers GA.Mr. Skelton was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 58 years: Doris McCurley Skelton and two sisters: Camilla S. Mize and Carol S. Pilgrim.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.Other times the family will be at the home.
Funeral services for Mr. Wayne Skelton will be held Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mt. Olivet Baptist Church with Rev. Jason Webb, Rev. Gary Willett and Rev. Nate Bunner officiating.Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.The body will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. Saturday morning.
