Wesley Allen Atwood, age 34, of Homer passed away Thursday, March 25, 2021, in Banks County, due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born April 6, 1986, in Atlanta, he was the son of Mary Cawthon Atwood and the late Robert "Bob" Atwood, Jr. He was a graduate of Georgia College and State University. He was an avid outdoorsman. He especially loved duck hunting and fishing. He loved anything that involved a tractor. He was the owner and operator of Atwood Contracting. Wesley was a member of Ducks Unlimited and the AKC Kennel Club. He was of the Methodist faith.
He is survived by his mother: Mary Cawthon Atwood; wife: Alyson McGowan Atwood; best friend and dog: C J; sister & brother-in-law: Deanna & Jeff Cahill; niece: Tess Cahill; Parents-in-law: Carl & Nora McGowan; grandmother-in-law: Nora Merritt; brother-in-law: Ashley McGowan; sister-in-law: Savannah McGowan; and nephew: Charlie McGowan.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 29, 2021 at the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Pastor Gregory Pope officiating. Burial will follow in Oak View Cemetery in Canon. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: Stan Haley, Ashley McGowan, Chris Newsome, Easton Payne, Jared Rainey, and Graham White. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Wesley's memory to Ducks Unlimited (www.ducks.org).
