Wiley Jimmy Phillips, age 71, of Royston, passed away Thursday, August 5, 2021 at St. Mary's Hospital in Athens.
Born October 11, 1949 in Royston, he was the son of the late Wiley Jackson and Willie Ruth Phillips. Before retirement he worked for the GA Department of Transportation. Mr. Phillips was a member of Peniel Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Mr. Phillips was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Danny Phillips and Sue Pickens.
He is survived by his wife: Sandra Elizabeth (Hughes) Phillips; children: Lynn Nylander (David), Cindy Sosebee, Scott Outz and Tonya Phillips; sister: Mary Ann Pruitt (Billy); sister-in-law: Wanda Phillips; 15 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 8, 2021 at the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia with Rev. Hubert Carter officiating. Burial will follow in Peniel Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. At other times the family will be at the home.
The following gentlemen will serve as pallbearers: David Nylander, Scott Outz, Chris Pruitt, Ryan Smith, Taylor Smith and Clint Turpin.
