Mr. William Chandler Anthony, age 78, of Stockbridge, formerly of Lavonia, died Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Emory University Hospital Midtown.
Born February 20, 1936, in Hart County, he was the son of the late Martin Chandler Anthony and Sadie Carnes Anthony Peeples. He attended Hart County Schools and graduated from Lavonia High School in 1954. After graduation he moved to the Stockbridge area. Mr. Anthony retired from the Atlanta Gas Light Company after 25 years of service. He was a member of Providence United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, June Kelly; sisters, Elizabeth Anthony of Lavonia and Patsy Williams of Hartwell; brother-in-law: Charles Kelly; and nieces and nephews, Chip Kelley, Kristi Kelley, Alida Baker, and Brenda Fulbright. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother: John Gordon Anthony; and nephew: David Powell.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Henry Funeral Home in Lithonia with Rev. Ted Rogers officiating. Interment will follow at Union United Methodist Church Cemetery in Stockbridge. The family will receive friends at Henry Funeral Home in Lithonia 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday evening.
