Obituary

Mr. William Amos "Bill" Gaines, 81, of 1967 Elberton Hwy, Hartwell, died Sunday, September 30, 2007 at his home.

Born on February 22, 1926 in Hart County GA, he was the son of the late Amos Gaines and Emma Sue Carter Gaines.He was a retired Line Foreman for Hart County EMC.Mr. Gaines was a former member of the board of directors of Hart-Franklin ARC, former Boy Scout Leader and a WW II US Navy veteran, serving in the African Theater.He was a member of the Cokesbury United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife: Frances Kotal Gaines of the home; a son: Greg Gaines of Lawrenceville; four daughters: Hala Moddelmog of Dallas TX, Susan Kay of Winterville, Molly Gaines and Nancy Gaines both of Hartwell; a sister: Libby Forbes of Hartwell; eight grandchildren also survive.He was preceded death by his first wife: Mahala Bartlett Gaines; a son: Timothy Gaines and a sister: Berta Daniel.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, October 2 at 4:00 p.m. at the Cokesbury United Methodist Church with Rev. Hugh Shirley and Rev. Bill Edwards officiating.Burial will be in the Cokesbury United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Monday night at the Strickland Funeral Home ~ Hartwell Chapel.The family is at the home.Memorials may be made in Mr. Gaines memory to: Cokesbury United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 1507 Montevideo Rd, Elberton, GA30635 or The Susan G.
