Mr. William E. "Bill" Shubert, 82, of 256 Shubert Rd, Hartwell, died Friday, November 26, 2010 at Hart Care Center.
Born on May 26, 1928 in Pratt City AL, he was the son of the late Arthur K. Shubert and Ruth Lenora Dodd Shubert.Mr. Shubert received a Masters degree from the University of South Florida and was a retired Director of Special Education for the Gwinnett Co. School System.He was a member of the Benton MacKaye Trail Association and the Hart Co. Cattleman's Association.He attended the Hartwell First United Methodist Church and was a Korean War veteran, where he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and retired from the United States Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Jon Giles Shubert of the home; a daughter, Rhonda Shubert of Blue Ridge GA; two sons, Thomas Shubert of Hendersonville NC and Charles Shubert of Benton KY; a sister, Jean Brown of Macon GA; two grandchildren, Terry William Shubert and Hana Lynn Connor and a great-grandchild, Caleb Richard Connor also survives.Mr. Shubert was preceded in death by his parents; a son, John Shubert; two sisters, Frances Shubert and Flora Mae Shubert and two brothers, Ernest Shubert and Odis Shubert.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 1 at 1:30 p.m. at the Hartwell First United Methodist Church with a reception following the memorial service in the church fellowship hall.The family is at the home.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hartwell First United Methodist Church, James Bowers Fund, 200 E.
