Mr. William "Billy" Carruth, 81, of 370 Gurley Road, Bowersville, died peacefully Saturday October, 20 2012 at Ty Cobb Regional Medical Center.

Born on March 31, 1931 in Bowman, GA, he was the son of the late Lucille Carruth. Billy was retired from Monroe Automotive Equipment Company where he worked as a lift driver and was of the Baptist Faith.Mr. Carruth was also a member of the Georgia National Guard.

Survivors include his wife, Sheala Cleveland Carruth; three sons: Terry Carruth of China Grove, NC, Johnny Carruth and Jimmy Carruth both of Hartwell; two daughters: Connie Carruth of Bowersville, and Mary Ann Martin of Hartwell; one brother, Paul David Carruth of Hartwell;seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren also survive.Mr. Carruth was preceded in death by his mother; one son, Glenn Carruth; two brothers: Vernon Carruth and Cecil Carruth; one sister, Katie Lou Johnson; and one grandchild, Jason Brown.

Memorial services will be Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. at Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home, with Rev. Johnny Stowe and Mr. Fred Greenway officiating.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Tuesday prior to the service.The family is at the home.
