Obituary
Mr. William E. "Ed Covington, 85, of Hartwell GA succumbed to illness on Sunday, May 8 in Atlanta.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years Iris King Covington and his parents Dr. and Mrs. Ernest (Ruth) Covington.
He is survived by his daughter, Mary Lynn Covington of Atlanta; his brother, Ernest Covington of New Jersey; sister-in-law, Mary Bennett of Atlanta and nieces and nephews and cousins.
Ed was a native of Atlanta; his family having moved to Buckhead when the area was considered to be "out in the country". He served in the Pacific Theater during World War II, attended North Georgia College and was a retiree of Sears.
A visitation will be held on Friday, May 13 at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 14 at 11:00 a.m. in the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell Chapel.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation, Gift Processing, PO Box 5018, Hagerstown MD 21741-5018.
