William Grady "Bill" Flippin, Jr., age 58, of Lavonia, passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2019 at his home.
Born September 7, 1961, on a naval base in Charleston, SC, so of the late William Grady Flippin, Sr. and Carolyn Flippin Lopez. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a truck driver with Auto Zone. Bill was a member of the Church of God of the Union Assembly in Lavonia and was "Papa" to many "grandchildren."
He is survived by the love of his life and companion of 21 years: Shirley Hill; his mother & her husband: Carolyn & Tony Lopez; daughter & son-in-law: Taylor & Jamir Walton; brother & sister-in-law: Jan Grzelak, Jr. & Tammy; sisters: Audrey Taylor and Paula Anderson; aunt: Jayne Garner; his AutoZone family; and many friends.
The funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 27, 2019 at the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home of Lavonia with Rev. Jesse Eleton, Rev. Darrell Akins, and Rev. Ricky Goff officiating. Burial will follow with military honors in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. At other hours the family will be at the home.
