Mr. William Edward "Hy" Hyland, 66, of 2816 Lavonia Hwy, Hartwell, died Friday, October 29 at his home.
Born on February 25, 1944 in Union Center WI, he was the son of the late Joseph Hyland and Margaret Hayward Hyland.He was former owner and President of Ebbtide and Associates, a seashell lamp and lampshade manufacturing company and former co-owner/operator of Driftwood Cafe' of Hartwell.He was a member of the Rotary Club of Hartwell and former member and past-president of the Rotary Club of the Low Country, Port Royal and also a two time Paul Harris Fellow.Mr. Hyland was a York Rite and Scottish Rite Shriner.He was a member of St. Helena Episcopal Church, Beaufort SC and attended the Hartwell First United Methodist Church.Mr. Hyland was a member of the Hartwell American Legion Post #109 and a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
Survivor include his two daughters, Sherry H. Neil and her husband Wayne of Beaufort SC and Terri H. Skelton and her husband Parke of Anderson SC; two grandchildren, Bradley Skelton and Sara Ann Skelton of Anderson SC; a brother, Bob Hyland; four sisters, Theresa Schumacher of Delavan WI, Betty O'Kelley of Washington State, Julia Sherwood of Richmond VA and Juanita Kwiatek of Peoria AZ also survives.Mr. Hyland was preceded in death by his wife, Mary E. Sprott Hyland; a brother, Joseph Hyland and a sister, Ramona.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 1 at 4:00 p.m. at the Hartwell First United Methodist Church with Dr. R. Allen Stewart officiating.A reception will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.The family request no flowers, memorials may be made to the Hartwell First United Methodist Church, James Bowers Fund, 200 E.
