William Richard King, age 80, of Lavonia, died Friday, March 18, 2016 at Oconee Regional Medical Center in Milledgeville.
Born December 5, 1935, in Cambridge, OH, he was the son of the late William H. Fines and Leota Blanche King. He retired from the US Air Force where he was an Avionics Systems Technician. He also owned and operated a trucking company. Mr. King was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife: Gloria Elaine (Mote) King; daughter: Glenda Madden; and a brother: John Jacobs
He is survived by his daughters: Shirley Meeks & Jim and Gail Silvey; sons: Kenny Silvey & Terri, Donald Silvey and Gerald Silvey; grandchildren: Chandra Dawson, Brandy Wood, Bryan Finch, Ashley Turner, Shelley Knight, Christy Hill, Ray Rickman and Megan Dougherty; sisters: Nancy Oaks & Theo and Janice White; brothers: Larry Jacobs & Loretta and Jerry Jacobs; and 12 great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 20, 2016 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Terry Meeks and Rev. Bruce McGee officiating. Burial will follow in Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until the service hour.
