Mr. William Ashley Moore (USN Ret.) age 79 of 640 Paradise Point, Hartwell, Ga., died Thursday, November 29, 2007 at his residence.

Born July 25, 1928 in Oakdale, TN, he was the son of the late William Moore and Nina Ashley Moore. He was a retired U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, where he served as an electrician and was also retired from AT & T as an electrician.He received the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal.

He is survived by: wife, Thelma Lee Swafford Moore of the home, son, William Arnold Moore of Dawsonville, Ga., daughters, Juanita Mount of Lavonia, Ga., Dianne M. Bruce of Hartwell, Ga., brother, Ted Moore, Sebastian Inlet, FL., sister, Jo Phillips, Oakdale, TN. Nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, James Steven Moore, daughter, Kathline Moore, brother, James Moore, sister, Jan Moore.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 2, 2007 at 4:00 p.m. from the chapel of Strickland Funeral Home. Rev. Chris Pritchett will officiate. Burial will be at Nancy Hart Memorial Park with military honors.

The body is at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. prior to the service on Sunday. The family will be at the home.
