William I. "Bill" Timms, Jr., 95, of Toccoa, formerly of Lavonia passed away on July 27, 2018 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
Born January 21, 1923 in Athens he was the son of the late W. I. Timms, Sr. and Berma (Bell) Timms. Mr. Timms was a WWII veteran of the US Navy. He retired as a Detective for the SeaBoard Railroad and was a member of the Lavonia First Baptist Church.
Mr. Timms was predeceased by his parents and his first wife: June (Ford) Timms.
Survivors are his wife: Patty Heaton Timms; sons and daughters-in-law: William Ford Timms & Debra and David Stuart Timms & Martha; grandchildren: Dave Timms, George F. Ball, III, and Vivian Walker Greentree.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 29, 2018, at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Dr. Larry Finger officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday beginning at 1:00 p.m. until the service time.
