Mrs. Willie Craft Burns, 89, of Cross Roads Community, Bowersville, died Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at Hartwell Health Care Center.
Born on November 3, 1921 in Hart County, GA, she was the daughter of the late Crate Craft and Carrie Coe Craft.She graduated from Habersham College in 1938 and retired as sales floor manager of Gallant-Belk in Hartwell.She was also a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church where she served as a former Sunday School Teacher and was in the Sunshine Club.
Survivors include her son: Mark Burns and his wife, Dohnia, of Westminster, SC; one daughter: Melba B. Windham of Hilton Head Island, SC; daughter-in-law: Phylis Burns; one brother: Donnie Craft of Hartwell; two sisters: May Belle Ertzberger Fleming and Eloise Vickery, both of Hartwell; six grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.Mrs. Burns was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Teasley Barton Burns; and one son: Lonnie R. Burns.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Cross Roads Baptist Church with Rev. Ben Coleman and Rev. Connie Mack Bowers officiating.Burial will follow in the Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell where the family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday night.The family is at the home of Phylis Burns, 207 Adamstown Road, Bowersville, GA 30516.Floral arrangements are optional and memorials may be made to Hospice Advantage, 2470 Daniels Bridge Road, Suite 171, Athens, GA 30606.
