Mrs. Willie Mae Vickery Nelms, 89, of Benson St, Hartwell, died Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at Hart Care Center.
Born on June 11, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Willie Francis "Bill" Vickery and Carrie Mae Norris Vickery.She was a homemaker, member of the Nancy Hart Order of the Eastern Star #398, Flat Shoals Baptist Church, WMU and taught Children's Sunday School of a number of years.
Survivors include her two sons, Danny Nelms and his wife Brenda of Woodstock and Randy Nelms and his wife Tricia of Kennesaw; four grandchildren, Jason Nelms, Adrienne Capers, Jennifer Trout and Russell Nelms; seven great-grandchildren also survive.She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy D. Nelms; four brothers, Bobby Vickery, Doyle Vickery, Edward Vickery and Leonard Vickery and a sister, Janice Scott.
Funeral services will be Thursday, October 14 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell with Rev. Mike Fugate officiating. Burial will be in the Nancy Hart Memorial Park.
The body is at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday night.The family is at their respective homes.Flowers optional, memorials may be made to the Flat Shoals Baptist Church, 2999 Bowersville Hwy, Bowersville GA 30516.
