Ms. Winnie Hugh (Watt) Peltz, age 83, of Lavonia, died Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at her home following an extended illness.
Born July 5, 1928, in Lavonia, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Melvin Watt and Nobie Elizabeth (Whitworth) Watt. She was a retired beautician. Ms. Peltz was a member of Shoal Creek Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother: Jimmy Watt; and son-in-law: Jackie Jackson.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Darryl and Tonya Peltz; daughter: Nancy Jackson; brother: Johnny Watt; grandchildren: Sheena Bales, Chris Peltz, Gwen Sherman, Michelle Leepart, Ashley Watson, and Amber Watson; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 28, 2011 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Shoal Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. At other hours the family will be at the home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to United Hospice of Athens, 435 Hawthorne Road, Athens, GA 30606 or to the family.
