Mrs. Winona Harris Weaver, 90, of Bode Weaver Road, Hartwell, died Wednesday, February 5, 2014 at AnMed Health Medical Center, Anderson SC.
Born on September 3, 1923 in Vanna GA, she was the daughter of the late James Gordon Harris and Annie Skelton Harris.Mrs. Weaver was retired from Dunlop Sports, where she was a machine operator and during WW II, she worked in Baltimore MD at the Martin Bomber Factor.She was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Joyful SS Class, Joy Club, a former SS Teacher, GA leader and choir member.
Survivors include her son, Danny J. Weaver and his wife Gail of Hartwell; two daughters, Jean Windsor & her husband Carlton of Lavonia and Pam Spence & her husband Clinton of Durham NC; a brother, Winston Harris of Hartwell; seven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.Mrs. Weaver was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe F. Weaver; seven brothers, Dennis Harris, Gartrell Harris, Paul Harris, J.G. Harris, Isom Harris, Alfred Harris and Dr. Wayne Harris; five sisters, Leah Whitaker, Lula Turner, Ruby McCollum, "Bill" Reynolds and Daltha Bowen and a great-grandchild, Tyrus Bode Weaver.
Funeral services will be Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Durham, Rev. Clinton Spence and Rev. Luther Thomason officiating.Burial will be in the Bethany Baptist Church Cemetery.
The body is at Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell, where the family will receive friends Friday afternoon from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m... The family is at the home. Flowers optional, special memorials may be made to the Bethany Baptist Church, 2085 Bethany-Bowersville Road, Canon GA 30520.
