Mr. Winston Allen Clark, age 82, of Lavonia, died Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at his home.
Born September 10, 1929, in Stephens County, he was the son of the late Luther and Etta (Phillips) Clark. He retired from the Georgia Department of Transportation as an engineer. After retirement he worked with FEMA for a more than ten years. He was a member of the Lavonia Masonic Lodge #241 and the Shriners International. Mr. Clark was a retired fireman with the Lavonia Fire Department and a veteran of the US Army, where he served during the Korean War. Mr. Clark was of the Church of God faith.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife: Coulene (Crowder) Clark; daughters: Jamie Lewis and Wanda Richardson; son-in-law: Tony Lewis; and granddaughter: Wendy Richardson Lewis.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law: Marsha & Randy Wells of Burlington, KY; grandchildren: Allison & Ryan Owensby of Lavonia, Pvt. Michael Lewis serving at Fort Hood, TX, Chris Wells of Burlington, KY, & Mickey Richardson of Martin; and great-grandchildren: Katie Rose, Riley, & Lily Owensby, Myca & Heather Richardson, Cody Lewis, Ivy Wells, & Makayla Richardson.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 1, 2012 at the Lavonia Chapel of Strickland Funeral Home with Dr. Billy Owensby officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. At other hours the family will be at the home. Flowers are optional or memorials may be made to the Lavonia Fire Department or the Shriners International.
