Mr. Y. Grant Martin, 70, of Martin Dairy Road, Bowersville, died peacefully surrounded by his family Sunday, December 14, 2014 at An Med Health Medical Center in Anderson, SC.

Born on November 18, 1944 in Royston, GA, he was the son of the late James Inman Martin and Helen Adams Martin.Mr. Martin was a graduate of the University of Georgia with a master's degree in Dairy Science and completed two years at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. He was a Dairy Nutritionist with Moorman Feed Company and was a dairy farmer.He was a member of the Cross Roads Baptist Church where he served as both deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He also was a member of the American Dairy Association and received the Young Dairy Farmer of the Year award.

Survivors include his wife: Lynn Beggs Martin; three sons: Steven and his wife Christina of Hartwell, Paul Martin and his wife Heather of Bowersville, David C. Martin and his wife Kristy of Hartwell; three daughters: Suzanne Banister and her husband Grant of Hartwell, Jill Herring and her husband Herman of Lavonia and Kerri Corbett and her husband Justin of Hartwell; a sister: Nancy Cable of Clermont, GA; two brothers:Max Martin and Marshall Martin both of Bowersville; eighteen grandchildren and two great grandchildren.Mr. Martin was preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild: William Grant "Will" Corbett.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, December 18, at 4:00 p.m. at the Cross Roads Baptist Church with the Rev. Connie Mack Bowers, Rev. Jason Martin, Rev. David Wilson and Rev. Sean Payne officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. The family is at the home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering, c/o Cross Roads Baptist Church, 3636 Lavonia Hwy, Hartwell, GA 30643.
