Mrs. Zelma Benton Williams, age 102, of Martin, died Friday, April 1, 2016 at Pruitt Health of Toccoa.
Born July 28, 1913, in Commerce, she was the daughter of the late T. Homer and Sarah Elizabeth (Harris) Benton. Prior to retirement she was a sales clerk in the Ladies Department at Belk of Toccoa. She was the oldest living member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Doris L. Williams; son-in-law: Phil Harrison; and sisters: Gladys Standridge and Hortense Benton.
She is survived by her daughter: Beverly Harrison; son and daughter-in-law: Benton "Ben" and Betsy Williams; sisters: Allene Harris and Annette Richey; grandchildren: Cindy Marlar, Libby Cleveland, Rebecca Shanlever, Richard Williams, and Sarah Catherine Williams; and eight great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 3, 2016 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Josh Harvill officiating. Burial will follow in Franklin Memorial Gardens – North. The body will be placed in the church prior to the service, for visitation, beginning at 1:30 p.m. Flowers are optional and the family encourages donations to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Building Fund, 1333 Pleasant Hill Road, Martin, GA 30557.
