IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Nancy
Baumberger
October 28, 1931 – December 25, 2023
Nancy Carol Radford Baumberger, age 92, of Lavonia, passed away December 25th at her home after beautiful family-filled days prior.
She was born October 28, 1931, in Charleston, West Virginia, daughter of the late Robert and Margaret McComack Radford. She was married for 23 years to Charles Baumberger until his passing. They shared wonderful memories and experiences together and she cherished all of them. Better known as "Gee" to her family and two granddaughter's friends, she was a world traveler, loved to have fun, and was always the life of the party.
Her passion for traveling and exploring the world ignited when she moved to California to become an American Airlines stewardess. She traveled to Scotland, Wales, England, Alaska, Turkey, Greece, Fiji, Australia, Brazil, all over Spain, all over Italy, Austria, Mexico, many island cruises, Costa Rica, Mazatlan, and many US national parks out west.
Nancy also loved throwing themed parties, full of costumes, dancing and drinks and always was the ultimate hostess. Her most notable one was the Easter Beer Hunt in Stone Mountain Park, Georgia which ran yearly for 25 years. While Nancy did enjoy the fast lane, she also fancied relaxing while reading a good action or mystery novel, watching her soap operas and going shopping.
She held many jobs throughout her life and refused to retire until she was 84. She worked as a flight attendant for American Airlines and retired at the age of 84 after working as an Aprons Chef at Publix. Anyone that knew her raved about Nancy's (or Ms. Gee's) culinary abilities.
She is survived by her daughter & son-in-law: Karen & David Rhino; and granddaughters: Lindsey Rhino and Reagan Rhino. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband: Charles McClay Baumberger; and sisters: Sue Bridgette and Pat Ryan.
Nancy's (Gee's) free spirited and loving personality was something to be admired. Her positive outlook on life will always be remembered and she will continue to inspire everyone who knew her as an incredible mom, grandmother and friend, every day. We love her.
Ms. Baumberger was cremated in accordance with her request. A Celebration of Life, in her honor, will be held in spring 2024, date TBD, for friends and family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in her memory to the Susan G. Koman Foundation (www.komen.org).
