Mr. David Edward Sayer, 59, of Rock Branch Community, Elberton, passed away peacefully Saturday, August 1, 2026 at his home surrounded by his family.
Born on February 2, 1967 in Fort Worth TX, David was the son of the late Rev. Edward Samuel Sayer and Ruth Conwell Sayer. He was a graduate of Elbert Co. High School and Clemson University, Class of 1991. David was a Project Manager for Everlasting – Matthews Granite and loved anything involving the Clemson Tigers. His favorite things to do were working in his yard and spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and family. His happy place was being at the beach.
David was a member of the Rock Branch Baptist Church, former Music Director and Choir Director, a Deacon and served on several various committees over his years of service with the church.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years: Christine Ginn Sayer; a daughter: Jena Sayer Lawson (Morgan) of Evans GA; a son: Nathan Sayer (Julie) of Elberton; a sister: Denise Beggs (Tim) of Elberton; four grandchildren: Mila Lawson, Cora Lawson, Maverick Sayer and Cruze Sayer: a sister-in-law: Susan Lopez of Elberton: a brother-in-law: John Ginn (Kay) of Starr SC and several nieces & nephews.
Mr. Sayer was preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother: Patsy Ward Sayer and his in-laws: Henry and Martha Craft Ginn.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 4, 2026 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. Other times the family will be at the home.
Funeral Services for Mr. David Sayer will be Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Rock Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Kevin Vaughn and Rev. Ken Wright officiating. Burial will be in the Rock Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rock Branch Baptist Church Building Fund, 2150 Coldwater Rd, Elberton, GA 30635.
The Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell is assisting the family with all of the arrangements.
