Shelby Jean Farmer Brady, age 83, of Canon, passed away on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at St. Mary’s Sacred Heart Hospital.
Born on March 3, 1942, in Stephens County, Shelby was the daughter of the late Douglas Winfred Farmer and Mary John Holcomb Farmer. Throughout her life, she exemplified dedication and hard work, retiring as a devoted machine operator with Milliken.
Beyond her professional life, Shelby was an avid reader and found joy in the challenge of puzzles. Yet, her greatest passion was the love and care she gave to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always placing family at the heart of her life.
Shelby leaves behind a loving family, including her son, Rusty Brady, and daughters, Lynn Wilson, Lisa Shedd, and June Brady (Marvin Todd). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Christy Hill (Dennis), Joshua Brady, Jennifer Walker (Brad), Renee Vaughan (Jerry), Janice Burton (Cutlass), and Cheyenne Jordan, as well as her brothers, Wayne Farmer, Keith Farmer, and Mitchell Farmer, and sisters, Janice Woody and Helen Brown. Her legacy continues through her sixteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Shelby was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Karen Truette Brady, granddaughter, Miranda Dunn, and several siblings.
The funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at the funeral home chapel, with Rev. Tony Franks officiating. Following the service, Shelby will be laid to rest in the Lavonia City – Burgess Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service.
