Cremation Services

On-Site Crematory

Our Crematory is operated by our knowledgeable and licensed professionals. We strictly adhere to a Cremation Code of Ethics and are members of  CANA (Cremation Association of America), which provides advanced staff training.  Because our crematory is located within our Hartwell funeral home facility your loved one will never be turned over to the care of a crematory miles away, where they will be attended to by people you've never even met.

Strickland Funeral Home & Cremation Service's state-of-the-art equipment is immaculately maintained and environmentally safe. We are proud to be Northeast Georgia's oldest crematory. While many funeral homes may transport your loved one to their cremation provider; We offer a professional, on-site crematory, giving you the peace of mind of your loved one never leaving our facilities.

All Crematories are Not the Same

When making the decision to cremate, it's important to recognize that there are some very important things to consider when selecting the crematory you will entrust with the care of your loved one.

First, will the crematory provide truly personal, and prompt, care?

Here at Strickland Funeral Home & Cremation Service we only serve one family at a time. This means your loved one is taken care of by us from the very moment we are entrusted to escort their body to the funeral home, until we meet with you to turn over their cremated remains to your family.

Second, Doesn't Your Family Deserve a Higher Level of Service?

We believe so. That's why we're committed to giving you and your loved one the kind of personal, respectful attention we provide for members of our own family. Since our crematory is located in our funeral home, your family can comfortably choose to have a private viewing prior to the cremation.

Third, Convenient Arrangements with your family in mind.

We have two locations to better serve your family during a difficult time. Although our crematory is in our funeral home in Hartwell, you can choose to make cremation arrangements with our Hartwell Chapel or our Lavonia Chapel, whichever is most convenient for your family.

An Open Invitation

Our fully-transparent business practices mean that we welcome your cremation and crematory-related questions. In fact, we encourage you to call us whenever you are ready to discuss the cremation services we provide.

Call 706-376-3901 for our Hartwell Chapel or 706-356-1110 for our Lavonia Chapel to set an appointment.

Traditional Funeral Service Followed by Cremation

Many families find meaning and beauty in a traditional funeral service. With a traditional service combined with cremation, you can still choose to have a final viewing, visitation or wake, and a funeral service. However instead of in-ground burial, the funeral will be followed by cremation. Depending on your wishes, the cremated remains may be either returned to your family for storage in an urn, scattered, or interred in a columbarium. This option will include fees for the funeral services as well as the fees associated with the cremation itself.

Memorial Service

The memorial service can be held in our chapel, a church, or any other venue the family chooses. We work with our families to design a service that honors their loved one with stories, music, or scripture. We also have life celebrants that lead services where clergy may not be chosen. Our celebrants are trained in creating experiences that help start the healing process.

Graveside Service

Graveside services following cremation offer a meaningful way to honor your loved one with a final act of remembrance. This intimate gathering at the burial site of the urn provides a quiet moment for family and friends to reflect, share memories, and say goodbye in a peaceful setting. Whether simple or ceremonial, it’s a heartfelt way to bring closure and lay your loved one to rest with dignity.

Keeping an Urn at Home

This is a common choice and families can select the perfect urn for their loved one.

Placing the Urn in a Columbarium

Many families find comfort in having a final resting place that they can visit.

Burying the Urn

Similar to a casket, the in-ground burial of the urn allows for a final resting place.

Scattering the Cremated Remains
